Timber Measure — Last updated 13 September 2026
Timber Measure is an iPhone app for measuring timber: log diameters, stacked roundwood and firewood, and brush piles (bundle identifier lv.timbermeasure.app). This page explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version: everything stays on your iPhone.
Timber Measure has no user accounts, no servers and no back end. The app never sends your information anywhere. Specifically:
This is why the App Store privacy label for Timber Measure says Data Not Collected.
The app asks for camera permission because measuring works by pointing the camera (and, on iPhone Pro models, the LiDAR scanner) at a pile of logs. The camera image and the LiDAR depth data are processed entirely on the device — by an on-device machine-learning model that finds log ends, and by Apple's ARKit. No image, frame or depth data is uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone. Frames are discarded as soon as the measurement is computed.
If you choose a photo from your photo library, the app only receives the single image you pick (Apple's picker), processes it on the device, and does not keep it.
So that you can look back at earlier measurements, the app keeps a history in its own private storage on your iPhone. It never leaves the device and is not readable by other apps.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your saved measurements (dimensions, diameters, coefficients, computed volumes, date, optional note) | The History tab |
| Your settings (country/standard, default log length, default coefficient, marker size) | So you don't re-enter them each time |
To delete everything: use "Delete all" in History, or delete the app — iOS removes its storage with it. There is no copy anywhere else.
Volumes are estimates computed from measurements and standard conversion coefficients (for example, stacking and packing factors). Results marked with ≈ are approximations. Timber Measure is a field aid and does not replace legally certified measurement where such is required.
If a future version of the app ever handles information differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
